Deming is located in Luna County, approximately 60 miles west of Las Cruces, and close to the Mexican border. As of 2010, it had a population of approximately 15,000 individuals.
When Deming was founded in the late 1800s, it was an important entry port on the United States-Mexican border. It was given the nickname the “New Chicago” because it was expected to grow rapidly due to the surge of railroad usage.
Deming is named after Mary Ann Deming Crocker, who was the wife of Charles Crocker, one of the “Big Four” of the railroad industry back in the 1800s. Along with having much history to it, Deming is also a town known for its diversity in plants, animals, and insects. Its economy is based primarily on transportation, real estate, agriculture, energy, retirement, tourism, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Truck Accidents in Deming
Because transportation makes up a large part of Deming’s economy, trucks are often on the area’s roadways. Not surprisingly, this increases the risk of truck accidents, some caused by drowsy driving by truck operators.
However, it is important to note that not all truck accidents are caused by drowsy driving. A number of other factors can contribute to a truck accident including:
- Poor weather conditions
- Poor road conditions
- Improper training of truck drivers
- Improper truck maintenance
- Careless or reckless driving
- Failure to obey traffic or other roadway signals
A truck accident is especially dangerous because of the sheer weight and volume a truck carries. If you, or a loved one, have been involved in a truck crash, you are well aware of how scary and traumatic it can be. A car is no match for a tractor-trailer, especially one going at high speeds on the highway.
If you have been in an accident, and you believe that crash was caused by the negligence of the truck operator or trucking company, it is important that you consult a personal injury attorney experienced in handling truck accident law suits. Samuel I. Kane many has years of experience handling lawsuits involving trucking accidents, and handles each client’s case with compassion and care.
